How does a Western Union agent pay out the money transfer?

Money transfers will generally be paid in cash at the agent location.

What does my receiver need to pick up the money transfer?

Your receiver can pick up their money from any of our agent locations. They just need to provide the following:

  • Tracking number (MTCN)
  • Sender’s and receiver’s full names
  • Expected amount
  • Your government-issued photo ID
  • Sender’s country and state/city/province

How can my receiver get the money?

  1. Cash pickup at an agent location

Your receiver can pick up the money at any nearby Western Union location. They need to complete the To Receive Money Form (TRMF) and provide their government-issued photo ID4, along with the following information:

  • Tracking number (MTCN)
  • Sender’s complete name
  • Sender’s country state/city/province
  • Expected amount
  1. Bank transfer

The money is sent to the receiver’s bank account you provided when you sent the transfer.

  1. Mobile wallet

The money is sent to your receiver’s mobile wallet. Your receiver can visit their mobile network operator to receive the cash.

 

Note: You must be at least 18 years old to send or receive money with Western Union.

How much does it cost to receive money?

All fees are paid by the sender. The receiver pays no transfer fee.

How do I know if my receiver has received my money transfer?

You will be notified via an SMS sent on your registered mobile number. You can also track your transfer online. All you need is the tracking number (MTCN) mentioned on the payment receipt.

How do I pick up a money transfer in Australia?

You can pick up your money transfer from any of our agent locations. While receiving the transfer, you’ll need to provide the following information:

  • The tracking number (MTCN)
  • The send country’s name
  • The send amount and currency
  • Your sender’s name

During what hours is the service available?

Availability depends on the agent’s opening hours. You can check the hours of operation using our agent locator.

How do I know when my receiver got the money?

  1. Open the app.
  2. Go to Menu.
  3. Select History.
  4. Select the transaction to see the status.

Or

  1. Go to the Home menu.
  2. Select Track a transfer.

You will need:

  • Tracking number (MTCN) AND
  • Sender’s first and last name OR
  • • Receiver’s first and last name

What ID can my receiver use to pick up their money transfer from an agent location in Australia?

  • Passport
  • Australia Driver’s license
